Sometimes, merely adding colors and choosing a different texture for the fabric can make all the difference! Find out what's trendy this coming year."][/caption] Trends and fads are forever changing, making fashion a fickle friend. There is, however, one thing that has remained pretty consistent over the years:  men’s formal wear. Wearing nice suits and fancy bow ties to special occasions has always been stylish and classy, and is generally guaranteed to get you a nod of approval. But even the classic suit and tie combo has to evolve. Check out some trendy must-haves to consider for 2013.

1. The Tuxedo

The first item that comes to mind when you think of men’s formal wear will always be a tuxedo. Just as it is for women, a flattering look for your body type is very important when considering what clothing style to wear. This is not a fad, it’s a fact. Excess padding is unnecessary when you can master a sleek and suave look. For instance, consider wearing a black slim fit tuxedo to show off lean muscles. For men with a bit more bulk to their body, there are other styles that can accentuate and provide an appealing look. A nice two button tuxedo jacket that can be worn opened or closed will create a classy look.

2. The Vest

With a perfect-fitting tuxedo, an equally flattering vest is a must have. Some believe that colored vests are a little too prom-ish, while others think that a dash of neon or pastel flairs up the style. If you are considering a white tuxedo, then adding some color can definitely complete the look. This is particularly the case during weddings, when the bride should be the only one clad completely in white. However, with a black tux, either way can suffice. Having a little color can be nice, but a nice silk ivory tuxedo vest is equally dashing. Keep this in mind while shopping.

3. Bow tie vs. Necktie

When considering fashion, should you go with a bow tie or a necktie? The decision comes down to preference and occasion. With any vest, one of these items is needed to help complete the look. A nice formal bow tie tends to be the choice for highly formal occasions such as weddings, funerals, or even cocktail parties. However, a solid color silk necktie can do the job equally well. One thing to consider is that bow ties emphasize your neck and draw attention to your face. Neckties, on the other hand, emphasize your chest. A skinny neck tie is likely to take the lead in most special events this year. It can be worn at anytime and still look stylish without seeming overboard.

4. Shoes

The finishing touch to your formal attire is a well polished pair of shoes. You may be surprised at how often someone's gaze may be drawn down. If you are looking to complete a particular look, a black pair of jazz oxford tuxedo shoes can easily be worn to match any of the above mentioned formal wear pieces. However, it is well known that fashion favors the bold. If you find yourself wearing a red vest with your black tuxedo, consider a pair of black and red leather shoes to complete your look. Trends in tuxedo shoes have remained the same for a long time. So, as long as you take care of your shoes, most formal looks will never go out of style. Fashionable and formal wear are two things that go hand in hand. While you are less likely to see a pair of spats coupled with shoes or a top hat, certain trends remain pretty much the same. Finding the right items that go together and items that flatter your look is most important. You may not always agree with fashion trends, but some certainly agree with you.
